Two Concerts at 2PM and 4:30PM on January 31 (Sun)
The Kurosawa Piano Music Foundation (KPMF) is excited to present the first Monster Piano Concert in the Silicon Valley. Two separate concerts will present over 100 pianists of all ages from all over the Bay Area, performing on twelve Steinway pianos under the direction of the world-renown pianist, educator and composer Dennis Alexander. He will conduct 12-piano pieces performed by 12 to 24 pianists, including his own compositions as well as works by Lynn Freeman Olson, Dan Coates, John Philip Sousa and others.
The first concert at 2PM will begin with the rousing "Marriage of Figaro" Overture followed by several "Monster" 12-piano pieces performed by teams of teachers, professional artists and students from Berkeley Academy, Peery School, Thu Hang Studio, the Jinye Wang's Studio and the Almaden Team. The concert will end in a blazing finale with Sousa's "Stars and Stripes Forever" performed on 12 pianos.
The second concert at 4:30PM will begin with the performance by Pas de Duo, a nationally acclaimed California-based duo piano team. This performance will also feature pianists from the above schools. Included is the premier of "Celebration Suite", a work especially written for this event by an internationally known Sondra Clark. The concert will end with the spectacular presentation of George Gershwin "Porgy and Bess" performed by college and graduate piano students from San Jose State University, under Dr. Gwendolyn Mok--a true "monster" achievement.
Ticket price starts at $10 for the youth, and we offer discount packages as well. The 2-concerts package gives you 25% discount for each concert.
