Benny Green was barely out of his teens when he was compared to Thelonious Monk and Bud Powell, while in the hard bopping bands of Betty Carter and Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. Now, not yet at the half century mark in age, he is at the far reaches of the bebop spectrum as a player. Right behind him is the Charlie Parker-influenced alto of Jesse Davis.
