Monkey Junction, the first exhibit you'll experience during your Zoo visit, is home to a playful troop of Colombian black spider monkeys. Considered one of the most agile primates in the world, you'll gasp as these high-flying acrobats leap and swing twenty feet overhead. Spider monkeys use their long tails as a fifth limb. Since they live high above the rain forest floor, their tails are quite handy for gathering food. With both feet and its tail gripping branches, a spider monkey can reach far out with both hands to grab juicy fruits. These distinctive tails are so strong that they can easily support the monkeys' entire weight.
