Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs R. Nicholas Burns will join Archivist of the United States Allen Weinstein in a discussion of global issues in 2007. Under Secretary Burns serves as the senior career Foreign Service appointee in the State Department. He previously served as the United States Permanent Representative to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization; U.S. Ambassador to Greece; Spokesman of the Department of State; Special Assistant to President Clinton and Senior Director for Russia, Ukraine, and Eurasia Affairs; and, under President George H.W. Bush, Director for Soviet (and then Russian) Affairs.
