Big Muddy Records will host a CD Release Spectacular for the Monads' latest album, Ornery, on Friday, March 28 at Off Broadway.
Playing along with the hardest working band in bluegrass will be filthy garage mavens the Vultures and finger-picker extraordinaire Pokey LaFarge. Clownvis Presley, St. Louis' most popular clown\magician\Elvis impersonator, will emcee the affair.
The first 50 paying guests will receive a complimentary Monads Party Package, which includes a copy of the new record as well as other secret goodies certain to delight all early arrivers.
"Toenail clippings collected from everyone in the band is a possibility," said Monads' banjo player Jason Matthews. "Maybe even an essay I wrote on the proper way to tree a raccoon. You'll just have to find out for yourself!"
The show will celebrate the release of the much-anticipated Monads album, which was recorded in the fall by Mike West. West's previous projects have included some of the Split Lip Rayfield recordings that helped spark the punk-bluegrass movement. This will be Big Muddy Records' sixth release.
Doors open at 9 p.m. Admission will be $7 and exclusively for those 18 or older. Off Broadway is located at 3511 Lemp Avenue. For more information, go to myspace.com/bigmuddyrecords
