The desert has never appeared so alive! Through Moses Pendleton’s breath-taking choreography, tumbleweeds tumble, lizards leap and rattlesnakes slither as desert landscapes dance to life in an entertaining blend of physical theatre, circus, athleticism and humor. For 25 years, Momix has conjured up beautiful imagery through original use of props, light, music and the human form. In a series of fast-paced images, dancers perform amazing acrobatics, balancing on long poles and flying through the air on curving frames. This desert wonderland is ingeniously brought to life with a soundtrack that combines Native American sounds, the Swingle Singers, Bach and Brian Eno. Opus Cactus proves that modern dance is not an arid art form.
