Speaker Bios

Ben Rigby graduated from Stanford University with Honors, Distinction, and Phi Beta Kappa. He went on to co-found Akimbo Design, a web design firm that created and managed the consumer Web sites for The North Face, Beringer Vineyards, California Pizza Kitchen and completed award-winning projects for Nokia, Sony Pictures, MGM, Calvin Klein, and Macromedia. His company produced three Web design books, won dozens of awards, and had work featured in major media publications such as Newsweek, the New York Times, Washington Post, and USA Today.

In 2002, Ben took a position as CTO of DFILM - a youth entertainment company creating web and mobile applications. At DFILM, he managed the launch of a youth-focused communication platform in partnership with KPN, the largest wireless operator in the Netherlands. He also launched a viral application that is consistently used by 300,000 unique users per month and has been licensed by Yahoo!, Sam Adams, IBM, the Sierra Club, and Old Navy. In 2004, Ben founded and is currently co-executive director of Mobile Voter.

Deb Levine has been working professionally on the Internet for more than 12 years. She created Columbia University's award-winning online health question-and-answer service, Go Ask Alice! She was the Director of Programming at ThriveOnline in San Francisco, CA, where she developed sexual health content for AOL and Time-Warner and created the persona of Ask Delilah, a popular online sex advice columnist. She has consulted on numerous other websites, including Planned Parenthood of America's Teenwire, WebMD, and CNNHealth. She is the author of The Joy of Cybersex: A guide for creative lovers, published by Ballantine Books in 1998. Her work has been cited in former President Clinton's Advisory Report on Education and the Internet (1995). Deb founded Internet Sexuality Information Services, Inc. (I.S.I.S.) in 2001, a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing and using technology and new media to enhance the sexual well-being of individuals and communities. ISIS' mission is to provide leadership, innovation, educational resources and research in online sexual health promotion. ISIS' award-winning projects include SexINFO, a text messaging service for urban youth; inSPOT, an STD ecard project; and Sex::Tech, the first ever conference focusing on sexual health, technology and youth in 2008.
