Letterpress printer Kyle Durrie will pull her Moveable Type Truck into town for an open studio event at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond and Studio Two Three. Durrie began her journey in Portland, Oregon, where she transformed a 1982 Chevrolet step van into a mobile print shop. Since June 11, she’s been on the road, making stops in cities across the country to share her love for letterpress.
During her Richmond visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Durrie will park in front of the Visual Arts Center at 1812 W. Main St., and guide budding printmakers in creating three-color “Free Range Creativity” posters. Participants will “pull” one color at each location: her truck, the Center’s letterpress studio, and Studio Two Three down the street at 1617 W. Main St., and have a poster to take home.
