Edan Lepucki is a fiction writer whose short stories have been published in Meridian, Narrative Magazine, Avery, and the Los Angeles Times Magazine, among others. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop and a regular contributor to The Millions, a popular literary website. She lives in Los Angeles, where she was born and raised, and has just finished her first novel. She likes cooking, jewelry, and filling out forms.

Terese Svoboda (www.teresesvoboda.com) is the author of eleven books of prose and poetry, including Weapons Grade, a collection of poems about sex and death, and Trailer Girl and Other Stories, forthcoming this fall. Her novels, Pirate Talk or Mermelade and Bohemian Girl will be published in 2010 and 2011. Black Glasses Like Clark Kent, her memoir, won the Graywolf Nonfiction Prize (2007). Her writing has appeared in the Times Literary Supplement, The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Atlantic, The Paris Review, and elsewhere. She is the recipient of honors including the O. Henry Prize (fiction), Bobst Prize (fiction), Pushcart Prize (nonfiction), Iowa Prize (poetry), John Golden Award (playwriting), and grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities, New York State Council for the Arts, Jerome Foundation, and more. Her opera WET premiered at REDCAT, the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater in Los Angeles. She has taught at Davidson, Williams, William and Mary, the Universities of Hawaii and Miami, the New School, Sarah Lawrence, Fairleigh Dickinson, Bennington, Fordham University, San Francisco State, and the Summer Literary Seminars in St. Petersburg, Russia and Nairobi.

Hannah Tinti grew up in Salem, Massachusetts, and is co-founder and editor-in-chief of One Story magazine. Her short story collection, Animal Crackers, has sold in sixteen countries and was a runner-up for the PEN/Hemingway award. Her first novel, The Good Thief, is a New York Times Notable Book of the Year, recipient of the American Library Association's Alex Award, and winner of the John Sargent Sr. First Novel Prize.

Mixer celebrated its two-year anniversary in March, 2009. This monthly reading and music series, featuring established and emerging writers and bands, is held at Cakeshop on the Lower East Side, on the third(ish) Wednesday of every month.
