About the District Alliance for Safe Housing (DASH):

DASH is addressing the overwhelming lack of housing and social services for victims of domestic violence and their children in the District by providing safety and necessary resources. DASH provides access, safety, and acceptance to victims of domestic violence by providing a "low barrier" housing program that accommodates victims regardless of disability, chemical addiction, immigration status or sexual orientation.

Among its many projects, to address the shortage of safe housing for victims of domestic violence, DASH is developing an apartment-style residence of co-located emergency and transitional housing scheduled to open in 2009.
