Mission Players - Live in San Francisco August 7, 2008

San Francisco's funkiest live act, Mission Players, will return to Red Devil Lounge for a funky Thursday evening show on Thursday, August 7th. This is sure to be an amazing evening of super funk, soul, blues music.

Grown out of jam sessions in San Francisco's Mission District, Mission Players found their core group in 2001, consisting of Mike Mulqueen (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Greg Garvey (Bass), Jason Movrich (Guitar/Vocals), Erik Mekkelson (Sax) and Jessie Hiller (Drums). The band's music reflect the deep-rooted music of the 70's soul and funk and are heavily flavored with influences ranging from Stevie Wonder and James Brown and The Meters. "Our ultimate goal is to put on a high energy live show that makes people need to shake their feet on the dance floor."

Their new CD release "Get Back Soul" explores the band's true funk, soul, blues, and rock roots. The band has shared recent co-bills with Fareed Haque Group, Irvin Mayfield, members of Galactic, and many more.
