From her page on the Emperor Norton (record company of Fantastic Plastic Machine, Takako Minekawa, Arling and Cameron, and a couple Sofia Coppola projects, among others) website:
Predominantly known in the UK for her vocal collaboration with artists such as The Hacker, Felix Da Housecat and Goldenboy, many people here will be unaware that she was a high profile techno DJ in Europe for years before she started releasing records. Miss Kittin became renowned for the musical breadth within her sets - her ability to take a crowd from full-on techno to deep ambient material without loosing the dance floor, and her impeccable programming - dropping old rave classics amongst up-to-date cuts, and betraying her long-standing love of Prince records at just the right time!

I first heard about Miss Kittin on DJ XVII's playlist. And since he rocks, by affiliation she does too.
