Students are introduced to minibeasts and discover what defines an insect, including insect sight and smell senses, lifecycles and metamorphosis, how mini beasts camouflage themselves, and their role in the food chain. Students will see close up different minibeasts including phasmids, stick insects, and giant burrowing cockroaches. Students will build their own minibeast catcher (pooter) and use it to capture (and later release) some specimens to see under the microscope. This course is suitable for Kindergarten to Year 2 students. Details of this event may be subject to change. Please visit http://cce.sydney.edu.au/course/mbmi for more information or to register.
