Mission

Gallery Gachet provides artists who have mental health, trauma, or abuse experience with opportunities to collaborate, exhibit, curate, perform and teach. We aim to integrate these artists to the forefront of contemporary art practice in Canada while maintaining their unique insights and perspectives. Our aim is to demystify issues related to mental health and to educate the public by using artistic means to advance discourse around these issues. Gallery Gachet puts on solo, group, juried and curated exhibits, featuring local, national and international artists. Our programming features a range of art practices from contemporary to outsider, and a range of mediums: photography, video, performance art, drawing, 3D, installation, ceramics, textiles, and more.

Vision

We see a time and place, where all artists who have a mental health challenge feel fully supported in their struggle for a creative life and career, experiencing adequate housing, studio space and economic wealth.

Values

* We agree to support the wellness of people marginalized by their mental health, trauma and/or abuse experience.
* We agree to promote artistic and professional development of our gallery members as a means to achieve social, cultural and economic justice.
* We believe in the expression and practice of art and culture as a human right.
* We agree to promote the critical function of art and culture in building a healthy society.
* We believe art is a means for survival, self-expression and health.
* We work for the elimination of discrimination against people marginalized by their mental health, trauma and/or abuse experience.

The Donnelly Fund

Although Donnelly Hospitality Management’s (DHM) work with charities such as the BC Cancer Society, the Salvation Army and others dates back many years, the Donnelly Fund was officially founded in 2008. As a non-profit organization, the Donnelly Fund began by assisting individual families in need through direct sponsorship. This hands-on approach eliminates administration and marketing fees to ensure that 100% of contributions are used solely for their intended purpose. Administered by Pattie Donnelly, the fund has quickly grown into a full-time project, developing new programs that give back to the many communities in which DHM’s pubs and nightclubs operate, by supporting worthy causes.

As the company continues to grow, so does the importance and significance of the varied philanthropic efforts of each venue. With the help of family and business partners, Jeff Donnelly is expanding DHM’s philanthropic programs to support several key charities—each particularly significant and important to him. Currently, DHM contributes 15 percent of its annual profits to the Donnelly Fund.

Today, the Donnelly Fund is committed to assisting individual families in crisis, helping them stay together through a monthly support program, and supports the Salvation Army, the Greater Vancouver Food Bank and BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.
