Milwaukee’s Chris Crain to Record LIVE CD at Discovery World!
Bear witness to the creation of More Than Music, Chris Crain’s third jazz CD
(Milwaukee, WI) – On Sunday, April 26, 2009 Chris Crain will record his latest CD, More than Music. More than Music is Crain’s third Jazz CD release and his most powerful and personal project to date. The live recording and performance of Crain’s most popular self written and produced music will take place at Discovery World Museum’s Pilot House from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 and available at Great Impressions, 5330 W. Burleigh Street, Milwaukee and Proper Attire, 8222 n. Port Washington Road, Bayside.
“The live performance and recording of Crain’s latest project is a not to miss event for Crain’s fan base, those interested in the music industry, and Jazz enthusiasts alike. More than Music is a unique experience and one that everyone in attendance will forever remember,” said John Wesley McVicker, Jr.
Crain released his first CD in 2004, entitled In My Father’s Image. Good Company followed in 2007 and earned Crain a 2007-2008 WAMI Award for best Contemporary Jazz album.
Born into a family of musical masters, Chris Crain has had a passion for music for as long as he can remember. A native of Mississippi and a self taught musician, Crain performs regularly at local venues throughout Milwaukee including Summerfest, Garfield Days, the Miramar Theater and Fuzion.
Band members for this project include Afton Johnson (bass), Olen Franklin (drums), Darrin Williams (guitar), Isaiah Adams (saxophone), and singers, Crystal Roundtree, Anchelle McVicker, Troy Haughton, and Bridget Price. Special Guest James Hamler will appear, as well as local artists Joe Jordan, and Johnny “Doochie” Rogers.
