Los Angeles, CA – Rogue Machine’s ‘Off the Clock’ late night series launches its first 2010 season show. Characters include an effeminate 11-year-old boy, his terminally ill chain-smoking Nanna, a depressed chicken, an abusive pyromaniac and an awkward host. A song-and-dance extravaganza for your whole adult family (not appropriate for children)!
ROGUE MACHINE is a collective of award winning entertainment veterans bringing a new and distinctive voice to Los Angeles Theatre. This presentation of MILK MILK LEMONADE launches this season’s ‘Off the Clock’ late night series, attracting particular interest from an edgier/artistically daring crowd. The ‘Off the Clock’ series brings fresh work to a theatre-hungry audience. Rogue Machine is building a theatre of ideas and nurturing the development of plays from contemporary writers while manifesting current culture, and consciousness.
MATTHEW ELKINS (Director) co-directed and produced the Los Angeles Premiere of Diana Son’s Stop Kiss at Rogue Machine, where he also produced their inaugural production Compleat Female Stage Beauty, Four Places and Steven Sater’s New York Animals. Matthew directed Raised in Captivity in the Pacific Resident Theatre Co-op. Other stage credits include: A Chorus of Disapproval (Odyssey Theatre), Happy End, The Turn of the Screw (Pacific Resident Theatre), and NBC’s ER. The Winter’s Tale (Utah Shakespearean Festival); Look Homeward Angel, Hay Fever, and The Crucible (Asolo Theatre Company), as well as Indulgences in the Louisville Harem (Kennedy Center).

JOSHUA CONKEL (Playwright) moved to New York in 2003 to work for playwright Craig Lucas and joined The Management, a downtown theater company for whom he now serves as Artistic Director. Joshua's plays have been performed all over the country and include The Chalk Boy, I Wanna Destroy You, The Sluts of Sutton Drive, and countless shorts. He is currently working on a graphic novel for First Second Books, an imprint of Macmillan. MILK MILK LEMONADE was named best Off Off Broadway Show of 2009 by NY Press and is now enjoying productions all over the country, with productions in Ft. Lauderdale, Austin, Berkeley, a New York remount, and this production at Rogue Machine.
JOHN PERRIN FLYNN (Artistic Director/Producer) directed Steven Sater’s (Spring Awakening) current production New York Animals, now in development at Rogue Machine. John helmed both the critically acclaimed and award winning Los Angeles premiere of Rogue Machine’s inaugural production Compleat Female Stage Beauty and the company’s World Premiere production of Henry Murray’s multi-award winning Treefall last season. He directed the Craig Lucas hit Small Tragedies at The Odyssey Theatre and the world premiere of John Pollono’s Lost and Found at The Lounge Theatre. Executive producer and director of Lifetime’s long running award winning series Strong Medicine, John has produced two other series and 14 television movies or miniseries including the Emmy nominated Burden of Proof. He most recently produced Rogue Machine’s Los Angeles Premiere of Stop Kiss.

ANDY HIRSCH (Emory) makes his Rogue Machine debut. Selected stage credits include Speed of Darkness (Goodman Theatre, Chicago), Apollo (Portland Center Stage); Moonchildren (Edinburgh Festival, Scotland), Chicago Conspiracy Trial (Odyssey), and The Importance of Being Earnest (Road). TV: Big Love, Shark, Beverly Hills 90210, Any Day Now, Step by Step, G-Spot, The Fanelli Boys, Thanksgiving Day (MOW), In a Child's Name (mini-series). Film: Fort McCoy (w/ Eric Stoltz), The Chicago 8, Ivansxtc; TMNT, The Real Old Testament, Welcome to Mooseport, and the voice of “Snap” for Rice Krispies. Graduate Northwestern University.
TRACIE LOCKWOOD (Lady in the Leotard) Tracie appeared in Compleat Female Stage Beauty at Rogue Machine and is the Producer of AROUND THE CLOCK, Rogue’s twenty four hour play series. Other recent acting credits include: How the Other Half Loves and A Chorus of Disapproval at the Odyssey. At Pacific Resident Theatre: Turn of the Screw; Betty’s Summer Vacation, Happy End, and at the Pasadena Playhouse in Vincent in Brixton.
JUSTIN OKIN (Elliot) appeared in the Los Angeles premiere of Rogue Machine’s Stop Kiss as well as the world premiere productions at The Public Theater (NY) The Edinburgh Fringe (UK) and American Conservatory Theater (SF). Currently appearing weeknights in Eat the Runt at Theatre of NOTE, where the audience decides which actor plays which character each night.
SHARRON SHAYNE (Linda) has numerous stage credits including Broadway’s The Deputy with Emlyn Williams and Off-Broadway’s To Be Young, Gifted and Black with Cecily Tyson and Moses Gunn. She originated the role of Midge in John Steppling’s Close (Dramalogue award) and appeared in Murray Mednick’s Joe and Betty, which won the American Theatre Critics Association Best New Play. Sharon is a lifetime member of The Actors Studio and a long-time member of Pacific Resident Theatre where she has appeared in The Master Builder, Ivanov, Orpheus Descending, Mary Rose and Death of a Salesman. Sharon produced the film The Gifted (Malibu Film Festival Audience Choice Award).
HOLLACE STARR (Nanna) appeared in The Last Days of Judas Iscariot (Veterans Center for the Performing Arts), A Chicago Christmas Carol (Crown City Theatre), Small Tragedies (Odyssey), Vieux Carrie (Ivy Substation), and Window of Opportunity (Met). She is well known for her solo show My Dad Came Dressed as Marilyn Monroe performed at Highways and at the Hysteria Festival in Toronto. Hollace has a MFA in acting from UCLA and is a lifetime member of the Actors Studio.
