Chicago based artist, Juan Carlos Macias, builds upon the Mexican traditions of Ex-voto and Retablo painting (small paintings on wood or tin made to honor, give thanks, or illustrate a saint's miracles). Through these acrylic and glass bead paintings on canvas, he reminds us of the many miracles performed by ordinary people during extraordinary times that often go unnoticed.
