The Lakeshore Theater’s artistic director Chris Ritter, together with Paul Provenza, director of the hit film The Aristocrats, is proud to present former successful stand-up comedian and talk-show regular Mike Birbiglia for one night only on April 14 at the Lakeshore Theater, 3175 N. Broadway.
Mike Birbiglia achieved comedy cult status in 2006 with the nationwide release of his Comedy Central CD Two Drink Mike and Medium Man on Campus college tour. While he is also the star of two Comedy Central Presents specials, what has truly galvanized his fan base is his “Secret Public Journal,” a weekly blog that Birbiglia emails to thirty thousand fans and broadcasts to millions on the nationally-syndicated Bob & Tom Radio Show. Birbiglia has recently signed a deal with NBC to develop a sitcom based on this “Secret Public Journal.”
One of the youngest comedians to ever appear on The Late Show with David Letterman, Birbiglia has been entertaining audiences nationwide for the past six years as he tours, coining a variety of funny phrases of his own directly from his show. He is currently working on his next CD, “Sleepwalk with Me,” a painfully funny one-man show about first love, first breakups and how his own sleepwalking disorder nearly killed him.
The Lakeshore Theater is a 338-seat intimate space located in Chicago’s trendy Lakeview neighborhood at 3175 N. Broadway. Featuring a full bar, professional lighting and sound system, connected box office and full dressing rooms, the theater is perfect accommodation for comedians, concerts and full-length productions alike.
Mike Birbiglia will be performing live at the Lakeshore Theater at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 14. Tickets are $25 and are available by calling the Lakeshore Box Office at 773-472-3492 or by visiting www.lakeshoretheater.com.
