Tired of winter? Then join Midwest Ballet Theatre as they bring the timeless fairy tale “Cinderella” to the stage during their original full-length story ballet "Cinderella" at the historic Tivoli Theatre, 5021 Highland Avenue in downtown Downers Grove. This enchanting performance is slated for Saturday, March 5 and Sunday, March 6, 2011, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Performed with unsurpassed talent by the Midwest Ballet Theatre’s young dancers, the Company’s “Cinderella” has been an audience favorite since its 1990 premiere. The ballet is based on the original fairy tale and set to a score by Shostakovich, Messager and Elgar. Choreography is by Midwest Ballet Theatre’s Artistic Director Mim Eichmann, with the role of the Prince danced by guest artist Matthew Geiger, formerly with the American Ballet Theatre Studio Company (ABT II).
And, to make the performance even more memorable, girls up through age 12 who attend the performance dressed up as Cinderella are eligible for one free raffle ticket towards a beautiful Precious Moments Cinderella figurine! One figurine will be given away to a Cinderella at the end of each day’s performance, and the winner must be present in order to claim their prize. All of the little Cinderellas will have a group photo taken afterwards in the lobby of the theatre.
Ticket prices range from $13 to $15 per person and can be purchased through the Midwest Ballet’s website, www.midwestballet.org, or by calling (630) 971-9751. Group rates are available for groups of eight or more.
