It's midsummer in Edinburgh. Bob and Helena meet at a wine bar. He's a failing car salesman waiting to pick up the keys to a stolen car. She's a divorce lawyer with a taste for other people's husbands. She's totally out of his league; he's not her type at all. They absolutely should not sleep together. Ever. Ever. Which is why they do.
After a drunken but surprisingly enjoyable one night stand, they embark on a wondrous lost weekend, spinning through the soggy city and ultimately discovering that for even the most committed of singles, change is possible.
Merrigong is proud to bring Edinburgh's acclaimed Traverse Theatre Company to Australia for the first time, with this quirky, charming musical that was originally a hit at the Edinburgh Festival.
Written by leading playwright David Greig, with songs by Gordon McIntyre of indie folk group Ballboy, Midsummer (a play with songs) has become a phenomenon.
Now after sell-out seasons in the UK and the USA, Midsummer arrives in Wollongong.
