"Pirate Invasion Comes to Omaha"
The 2nd annual MIDLANDS PIRATE FESTIVAL will treat families to a variety of history edu-tainment, buccaneer fun, and a braveheart immersion into October/Halloween activities at the region's newest theme park. The time set for all of this unique outdoor theater showcasing is Oct. 10th & 11th (11am to 6pm).
The Bellevue Pumpkin Ranch owners and the Pirate Fest producers have been busy building new structures and booking nautical-themed acts from all over the Midwest.
"When you encounter such acts as Kids With Fire, Barnacle & Scuttlebutt, the Bawdy Buccaneers, the Vexing Vixens, the Banished Misfortunates and about ten other performing groups, you know you've found something unique on the prairie," proclaims producer Gregory Schmidt of Festivals International.
The event will also include a children's fun realm with numerous shows and activities, plus a living history area with a variety of hands-on experiences for adults.
Not only will this original event showcase professional theater, cabaret and showboat music acts, it will also lead into the enhanced night-time activities at one of the area's most popular Halloween parks. The Bellevue Pumpkin Ranch now features a full-scale pirate shipwreck on a sandy beach, a winding treasure cave, a large Peter Pan treehouse, a Port Royale merchants town, five stages of shows, history re-enactment exhibits, a games of skill yard, and new Halloween thrills for the after-dark adventurer.
The Midlands Pirate Fest shows and activities run from 11am to 6pm, while the traditional Halloween haunts start at 7pm.
Admission to the daytime festival is $10 for adults, $6 for kids from 6 to 12, with tots free. There are group discounts for ten or more.
