The California Institute of Nanotechnology will offer a 2-week Micro-NanoFabrication for Photovoltaics Workshop from September 3-20 in San Jose.
During this hands-on course, participants will:
• Learn to assemble a photovoltaic cell
• Use a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM)
• Acquire valuable training in lithography, etching and cleaning and specimen characterization
• Prepare detailed technical reports on the design, fabrication, characterization and interpretation of measured data
The workshop is an intensive certificate program geared towards introducing technical and business managers to the applications of nanotechnology for photovoltaics. The program includes a hands-on lab component covering the basic principles and practice of micro-nanofabrication techniques applied to electronic devices.
Topics covered include an overview of the fabrication processes, photolithography and mast layout techniques, wafer characterization, and characterization of a novel solar cell using thin film organic semiconductors.
The total duration of the course is 30 hours, consisting of three 2-hour lectures and three 8-hour labs. Lectures will be held from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Wednesdays and labs will be held from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
Interested individuals should meet the following prerequisites:
• A minimum of 4 year degree (Bachelor of Science, or Engineering or Liberal Arts)
• At least 5 years of working experience in a high technology industry
• Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communications
• Participants will be expected to demonstrate their technical and management skills through problem solving, team work, and project management.
Classes will be held at our headquarters near downtown San Jose and on the campus of Santa Clara University.
