Upstate SC author Mickey Beckham will be signing copies of his new novel, Messengers Among Us (BookSurge, paperback, $24.95), at Fiction Addiction on Saturday, April 30th, from 1-3 pm.
A nurse at a major medical center is the last to see three patients who are all terminally ill. They each make a miraculous recovery, and the nurse is suspected in a hospital cover-up. Then a cult accuses her of being a Satanist and tries to kill her. Messengers Among Us is the story of this nurse and her fiancee weathering the problems they have, he in Afghanistan and she in Beaufort, SC.
M.C. "Mickey" Beckham is a native of Rock Hill, SC, which is where he now lives after having lived much of his adult life outside of his home state. He is a graduate of Furman University and holds a Master's degree from Vanderbilt University. He is now Executive Director of a free medical clinic for medically uninsured patients.
Beckham's writing saw an early winning story as a junior student in Furman's Spring 1960 Echo magazine. For years afterward, his creative writing took a back seat to his service as editor of three medical center magazines and an interviewer of famous physicians. Only after the year 2000 did he begin writing fiction, producing the novels A Time Revisited and Colonial Spy, as well as A Confederate Soldier's Eloquent War, a Civil War diary.
Those who cannot make the signing can reserve a personalized copy of any of Mr. Beckham's books by contacting Fiction Addiction in advance at 864-675-0540 or at info@fiction-addiction.com.
