Michael Weiss Foundation presents U.S. & World Figure Skating Champions Live! September 6, 2008

FIGURE SKATING LIVE IN VIRGINIA: Local two-time Olympic figure skater, Michael Weiss, has his roots in Northern Virginia and his heart with the young skaters who will carry the torch for Olympics of the future. Thus, he established the Michael Weiss Foundation (MWF), a non-profit organization offering scholarships to help aspiring young figure skaters achieve Olympic glory. Its fourth annual, US & World Figure Skating Champions Live!, will be held on Saturday, September 6th - 4pm at Kettler Capitals Iceplex, in Arilington, Va. Sharing the ice with Michael will be Olympic and World Champions skaters: Brian Boitano, Sasha Cohen, Todd Eldredge, & Yuka Sato along with Mirai Nagasu, and current Men’s World Champion Jeffrey Buttle. Olympians from Canada, Great Britain and Italy as well as up-and-coming national competitors will join Michael to skate for his charity. Local favorites include U.S. Novice National Medalist, Kristine Musademba and U.S. Novice National Champion, Armin Mahanoozadeh. Ticket prices range from $20-$50 with special VIP tickets for $200, which include on ice seating and a reception where tickets holders will meet the skaters. Proceeds from the ticket sales will go to figure skating scholarships to be awarded later this year. $115,000 worth of scholarships have already been awarded by the Michael Weiss Foundation.

LOCAL SILENT AUCTION: A local silent auction will begin at 3pm at the venue.
