In accordance with Florida Statutes, 23 CFR 771 and Section 339.155, official notification will be mailed to property owners in the project corridor. Other upcoming project schedule highlights include the City Commission’s Approval of the project recommendations in October 2006. The DBOM (Design-Build-Operate-Maintain) Procurement phase will begin with RFQ advertisement approximately December 2006, and RFP advertisement January - March 2007. Construction is projected to begin in December 2007 – January 2008; passenger service is projected to start mid 2010.

Miami residents curious about the city's proposed $200 million streetcar project will have a chance to comment about it Wednesday evening at Miami Dade College's downtown Wolfson campus.

The latest streetcar plan calls for trolleys to run north-south from the Design District to downtown Miami, primarily along Northeast Second Avenue, and east-west from Wynwood to the Jackson Memorial Hospital/Civic Center area, primarily along 20th Street.

Details on a financing plan involving a private vendor that would design, build, operate and maintain the trolley system are being ironed out.

The public hearing is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. at the MDC Wolfson Campus Auditorium, 300 NE Second Ave., Room 1261.
