If it were possible for buildings to pose for the camera, Keith Mosier’s photographs would be centerfolds! The images on view at PHD Gallery are the result of several trips Mosier and his partner took to Miami’s South Beach between 1998 and 2012. In them he captures the glamorous Art Deco and Streamline Moderne buildings of the city’s Art Deco District. Even when these gorgeous wedding-cake concoctions are shabby and neglected, they’re sleek, modern, and undeniably sexy in Mosier’s black and white, silver gelatin photographs. More than 20 prints are on view from June 30 through August 11, 2012 with and opening reception for the artist on Saturday, June 30, from 7-10PM. “Miami Centerfold” is Keith Mosier’s first solo exhibition.
(Participating businesses Retro 101 and St. Louis Curio Shoppe have teamed up with PHD Gallery to host “MIAMI NIGHTS STREET PARTY” going on concurrently with the art exhibit MIAMI CENTERFOLD. Outdoor festivities will include refreshments, and music by the SAXQUEST JAZZ ENSEMBLE.)
