Chicago audiences have the rare opportunity to see one of the world’s most important modern dance companies in an intimate setting when Merce Cunningham Dance Company makes its debut at The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago.
Each of the two programs will feature an Event, which consists of excerpts of repertory works arranged for this engagement. In an Event, rather than lengthy, recognizable excerpts, the audience sees “fragments [that] are so intermingled as to constitute a new entity that is satisfying on its own terms,” as Jack Anderson wrote in The New York Times.
In addition to 8 p.m. performances Oct. 1, 2 and 3, there is also a 3 p.m. performance Oct. 3.
