Mental Health First Aid Training

The Mental Wellness Center is providing the community with a groundbreaking public education program – Mental Health First Aid – to help the public identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. An interactive 12-hour course, Mental Health First Aid training provides a layperson with the knowledge they need to assist someone experiencing a mental health crisis until appropriate professional help arrives.
Successful participants of the program are certified as Mental Health First Aiders for three years and learn a 5-step action plan encompassing the skills, resources and knowledge to help an individual in crisis connect with appropriate professional, peer, social and self-help care.
Two-course series:
• Saturday, August 25th
• 9:00am – 4:00pm
• Sunday, August 26th
• 9:00am – 4:00pm
Location: Mental Wellness Center, 617 Garden St.
Course cost: $45 (25 person maximum per two-series course)
