Mendocino Stories & Music Series, in cooperation with Little River Inn, presents The Acafellas in a benefit performance for MUSE’s music in the schools fund on Saturday, February 5. Music will start at 7:30 in the Abalone Room of the Little River Inn, Highway One in Little River.
The Acafellas continue their romp through the history of a cappella music from the Renaissance to late 20th century composers and arrangers. Classical, modern, gospel, jazz, R&B, Doo-wop and rock music, sacred to the profane and especially love songs make up their broad repertoire.
Jim Ehlers, Dennis Freeze, Paul Friesen, Eric Hillesland, Jim Jackson, Jason Kirkman, Joe Rosenthal, and Sam Waldman return for their third performance with the Series, always playing to a standing room only crowd. They have performed for the Mendocino Music Festival and recently sang at the Harmony Sweepstakes A Cappella Festival at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco.
Since its inception in 2001, MUSE has offered grants to programs at all grade levels and in all academic areas. “Mendocino Unified School Enrichment”, a 501C-3 non-profit organization, was formed by parents, teachers and community members concerned with maintaining and enhancing the excellent educational programs that have been the heritage of the Mendocino Unified School District. As the state budget crisis continues, MUSE's support is increasingly important for our kids’ educational experience.
Doors open at 6:30 PM. Come early for best seating. Refreshments will be hosted by members of the MUSE board. Advance tickets of $15 are available by calling Little River Inn, 937-5942. $20 at the door. For more information about the event, call Pattie at 937-1732 or info@mendocinostories.com.
