Join us at the Hill House of Mendocino on Sunday, May 27, when Mendocino Stories & Music Series presents Steven Bates Trio. This is third night of the Mendocino All-Star Music Weekend. Rock and Roll Dance music with Steven Bates, Ralph Humphrey and Johnny Bush starts at 8PM.

The Trio, featuring Steven Bates on guitar and vocals, will be doing a combination of Steven’s original music and rock and roll dance tunes.  A
Fort Bragg native, Bates started playing music at school dances by age 13. After graduating, he set off to Southern California. Playing with many different bands and individuals, he loves that opportunity to play with so many musicians around our area.

Ralph Humphrey on drums is currently the drummer with Dancing with the Stars, although he's had a fantastic music career outside of that. He has played on hundreds of records by everyone from Al Jarreau and Manhattan Transfer to Frank Zappa and Wayne Shorter. He has also devoted a large portion of his time to education, developing the first percussion program at Percussion Institute of Technology.

Comptche’s own Johnny Bush will be playing bass, and perhaps joining in on some vocals. He plays just about every instrument he has ever touched, including drums and saxophone. Starting out in the 70’s at Mendocino Community School’s studio run by Philo Hayward, John plays with lots of local musicians and bands, including Foxglove and The Mighty T-Bones.

Doors open at 6:00 PM for dinner menu and full bar. Call Pattie at 937-1732 or www.mendocinostories.com/events.
