Mendocino Stories and Music Series "Mendocino All-Star Music Weekend " with Rebop Deluxe May 26, 2012

On the second night of the “Mendocino All-Star Music Weekend, Saturday, May 26, Mendocino Stories & Music Series presents "Rebop Deluxe". This five-piece jump, swing, blues and boogie band features Karl Schoen, Sharon Garner, Pilar Duran, Laura Maione and Dan Albrecht. Music starts at 8:00PM at the Hill House of Mendocino.

These musicians are legends of the north coast jazz and R&B scene. They have come together to create a new band featuring fun tunes and lively rhythms. Premier guitarist Pilar Duran, known from Frida’s Circus and Rogerwood, is versed in all musical styles from jazz to funk, blues to pop. On lead vocals, Sharon Garner sang with the funk band Dysfunction, is in a jazz duo with Billy Shieves and also sings with the Boonville Big Band.

Karl Schoen doubles sax and flute. He's been entertaining here on the coast since the seventies playing jazz, blues, rock, and salsa. One of the most fun bass players to experience, Laura Maione always seems to be playing with a sly smile or a great big grin on her face. Also in the band is multi-talented instrumentalist Dan Albrecht, playing drums in this incarnation.
