Mendocino Stories and Music Series will present traditional and contemporary Hawaiian Music with Hui Arago on Saturday, October 1. Hui Arago is Dennis Hudson (`ukulele), Marybeth Arago (vocals, `ukulele) and Michael Arago (vocals, slack key guitar). Special feature of this event is hula accompaniment on several songs. Showtime is at 7:30PM at the Mendocino Hotel.
Lead `ukulele player Dennis Hudson has been playing `ukulele over 20 years, and he has studied under `ukulele Hawaiian `ukulele master Herb Ohta. Marybeth Arago is the lead singer; her lovely voice is joined by Michael’s on harmony vocals. She also plays rhythm `ukulele. On Hawaiian slack key guitar (ki hö`alu), Michael Arago was heavily Influenced by the only music his Hawai`i-born mother played while he was growing up. He also hosts a Hawaiian music show on KZYX&Z, “Nä Mele O Hawai`i.”
