The Mendocino Art Center shines its Main Gallery spotlight on the all-media artwork of its contributing members in the "Members' Juried Exhibit," January 7-31.
Each year, the Mendocino Art Center presents two members' exhibits featuring the finest works created by the Art Center's contributors. A highly competitive juried selection process leads to an exceptionally creative, high quality, and much anticipated gallery showing with a wide spectrum of artwork, including paintings, ceramics, sculpture, collage, wearable art and photography. The exhibit was juried by local artist Marta MacKenzie and Mendocino Art Center artist in residence Peter J. Masters.
Additional January Exhibits
Chinese artist Yang Ye will exhibit his work in America for the first time with a solo exhibition, "Traces of a Life Adrift: Altered Inks and Installations," in the Abramson Gallery. The showing consists of all new works that combine locally found materials with Yang Ye's distinctive alterations of Chinese and Western artistic techniques. He has been deeply inspired by the beautiful scenery and local culture of the Mendocino Coast. His work offers a unique vision of the relationship between the natural world and the global issues of our time, as seen through post-millennial Chinese eyes.
"Biorhythms," in the Nichols Gallery, features the work of three of Mendocino Art Center's artists in residence, ceramist Ryan Hurst, fiber artist Jaya Miller, and sculptor Diane Reed Veach. "Biorhythms" will be the first of three month long exhibits highlighting the works of MAC's artists in residence prior to their annual showing in the Main Gallery in April, with artwork by over 20 emerging artists.
