Memoir by Nancy Lunsford
Opening reception: Thursday, M ay 19th, 6 – 9pm
May 19th – June 26th
"Memoir" is Nancy Lunsford's fourth solo exhibit at 440 Gallery. The show consists of
recent work and a kind of retrospective of her work over the last two decades. The
anchor of the show is an installation and performance piece consisting of a desk with the
artist present, working on a written memoir, drawing, painting or engaging visitors in
conversation.
Lunsford's work over the last few years has incorporated traditional Appalachian quilt
patterns in her collage and assemblage. This performance piece is described by the artist
as a "living quilt" composed of remnants her past experience, both personal and artistic.
There will also be events scheduled during the run of the show, including a reading of her
memoirs and a slide show, utilizing her vintage Kodak Carousel projector, of her early
work and influences.
Please join us for an opening reception with the artist on Thursday, M ay 19th from 6-
9pm. The show will run through June 26.
