Melissa Etheridge is coming to New York City to perform at the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden for two shows this summer.
In February 2007, Melissa Etheridge celebrated a career milestone with a victory in the Best Song category at the Academy® Awards for "I Need to Wake Up," written for Al Gore's global warming documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth."
Over the course of her more than two decades as a performer and songwriter, Etheridge has shown herself to be an artist who has never allowed "inconvenient truths" to keep her down. Just two and a half years ago, Etheridge was diagnosed with breast cancer, a health battle that, with her typical tenacity, she won. Despite losing her hair from chemotherapy, Etheridge appeared on the 2005 Grammy® telecast to sing "Piece of My Heart," giving hope to many women battling the disease.
Last year, Melissa Etheridge received the distinguished ASCAP Founders Award honoring the anthemic power, compassion, and generosity of spirit of her music, and her enduring status as one of the greatest all-time female rock icons. This past September, she released her ninth studio album, The Awakening, a collection of powerful and playful yet confessional and engaging songs that was selected as one of Rolling Stone magazine's Top 50 Albums of 2007.
Tickets: $39.50 - $104.50
