Meiji, Japan Rediscovered November 23, 2011

The exhibition will explore the connection of Japan and the West in the mid to late 19th century through the early 20th century. The Meiji period (1868-1912) is perhaps the most dynamic era in Japanese cultural history with the Japanese artists rediscovering their own history in conjunction with 'opening' the country to Europe and America.
