You are invited to join SMP for the "Meet the Experts" May 8 Casting Design and Manufacture Forum, which will provide the opportunity to learn about the various low, medium and high volume casting processes. Attendees will be provided with a comprehensive overview of casting materials and processes, aiding in the ability to know when and where casting should be used in a product under development.
Keith Krook will explain the benefits and show examples of casting processes such as sand castings, permanent mold, gravity cast, rubber plaster molding, investment and die casting. He will also review the material properties of various grades of casting materials.
Keith joined General Foundry Service as business development manager in June of 1999. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology - Polymers from California State University at Chico, 1991. Keith is active in the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SMR), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and is on the board of the local chapter of the American Foundry Society (AFS).
Howard Mullin's talk will focus on high production casting applications, including die casting. He will also provide information on tooling design constraints and how to maximize tool life, as well as the prevention of premature tool failure.
With engineering degrees from the University of Michigan and a background in sales and tech service of plastic resins for Diamond Shamrock Corporation, Howard has been in the plastic molding business for 40 years - 20 of those as owner of his own injection molding company. Howard is now vice-president of Control Plastics, which has a staff of over 60 engineers between the Taipei and Shenzhen offices. The majority of his business is in medical equipment and devices.
The Casting Design and Manufacture Forum will be held at Sparky's Hot Rod Garage and a complimentary buffet lunch will follow the speakers' presentations.
