Jack Straw Productions presents a "Meet the Artist" evening with composer and steel drum master Ray Holman. This event will also be the launch party for his new CD, "In Touch," recorded at Jack Straw Productions during a studio residency Holman received as part of Jack Straw's Artist Support Program.

Ray Holman's music is a lively blend of jazz influences sauteed with Trinidadian calypso. He will be performing live in the Jack Straw studio with members of his band - Andy Glynn, saxophone; Michael Glynn, bass; Mike McGhee, guitar; Greg Campbell, drums; Bill Nordwall, organ.

Ray Holman is a Trinidad-born composer, steelband arranger, and performer who began playing in 1957 at the age of 13 with the legendary Invaders Steelband of Trinidad and Tobago. He has written for the theater, conducted workshops at several American universities, and his compositions have been showcased by the German National Orchestra and others. He has performed in the United States, Canada, Japan, Latin America and Europe. His music is an elegant mix of his native calypso and modern jazz.
