The Visigoths; The weakening of the frontiers of the Western Roman Empire saw the Germanic Suevi, Vandals and Alan tribes cross the Rhine in AD 409. They ravaged Gaul until the Visigoths drove them into Iberia the same year. As the western Empire disintegrated the social and economic basis of life became greatly simplified and we enter the Dark Ages. The Visigoths in Iberia maintained many of the traditions and laws of the late Roman Empire and would rule the Peninsula for 300 years. Details of this event may be subject to change.
