Medicare Savings Program June 17, 2009

MEDICARE SAVINGS PROGRAMS –
In Texas, Medicare enrollees who meet federal income and resource criteria may be able to qualify for Qualified Medicare Beneficiary Medicaid (QMB), Specified-Low Income Medicare Beneficiary Medicaid (SLMB), Qualified Individual Medicaid QI-1, and Qualified Disabled Working Individual Medicaid (QDWI). The Medicaid benefits of these programs are payment of some or all of the Medicare cost-sharing amounts (premiums, co-insurance, and deductibles). If eligible, Medicare enrollees are entitled up to $1,156 or more each year. Income and resource limits and benefits of each of these programs will be discussed.
