FOSSFA's first African Media- FOSS workshop

The Free Software & Open Source Foundation for Africa (FOSSFA) in collaboration with the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA), the Ghana-India Kofi Anan Center for Excellence in ICT (AITIT-KACE), L’Association de Presse Panafricaine (APPA), the Meraka Institute, University of the Western Cape (UWC), IDC, and Panos London, are pleased to announce the first workshop between African Software Developers, Free Software practitioners and the African Media to be held at the Kofi Annan Center for Excellence in ICT, in Accra, Ghana from the 23rd to the 27th of April 2007.

WHAT DOES FREE & OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE HAVE TO OFFER TO AFRICAN MEDIA?

Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) exists in for all sectors of media productivity. This is a golden occasion to experience FOSS for Radio, TV, Print and web.

WHAT CAN THE AFRICAN MEDIA OFFER TO THE CONTINENTAL FOSS INDUSTRY ?

Continued and enlarged reporting, evaluation, measuring and a little shaking up are fundamental needs of the FOSS technical world to translate technology into solutions for every day needs.
The FOSS-Media tandem is capital in order to take the FOSS question to policy levels, and keep it alive and active.
