Fourth Annual ‘MeatEaters Ball’ to be Held May 7, 2009
-- The Financial World’s Exclusive, Charitable Networking Event Returns to the Foyer of the CAA Headquarters, with Expected Attendance of 800+ --

On May 7, 2009, more than 800 C-Level executives and financial investors will gather at 2000 Avenue of the Stars, in Century City, for the Fourth Annual MeatEaters Ball – an exclusive night of networking, charity, dancing, deal-making…and tasty southern barbecue.

The now “cocktail attire” affair was originally founded in 2006, by Robert K. Whyte, Managing Director at Mosaic Capital Securities, LLC, and David L. Cremin, Managing Director at DFJ Frontier. In its first year, the backyard networking BBQ pulled in 120 guests. In its second year, expected attendance was 250, and the event saw more than 550 guests. Last year, in its third year and at a new location, the foyer of the new CAA Headquarters, event staff planned for 500 guests – attendance reached 950+, raising more than $28,000 for charity.

This year’s MeatEaters Ball has added a third host, Jim Jonassen, founder of Jim Jonassen & Associates Venture Search, as well as a red carpet arrival area, live bands, and a special, surprise performer. The Ball is expected to see attendance in the 800+ realm, with proceeds going to not one, but two charities, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica and The BizWorld Foundation.

The “meat” component of the ball will once again be provided by the famous Los Angeles eatery, Woody's Bar-B-Que, with beverage sponsors to include Simply RAW Vodka, CHIVAS REGAL®, and JLP The President's Tequila™. Confirmed event attendees represent such upper-echelon firms and companies as Google, Square 1 Bank, the Rubicon Project, Endgame Entertainment, SONY, Idealab, IBM, Skyline Music Publishing, and hundreds more, such as investors GRP Partners, Redpoint, Stone Canyon and Leonard Green Partners, to name just a few.

Frank Mottek, host of KNX 1070 Newsradio’s popular Southern California show, “KNX Business Hour”, has referred to the MeatEaters Ball as “…the best networking event of the year.” The Ball has been referenced as the replacement for the now defunct “Predator’s Ball” – an annual event once hosted by Drexel’s Michael Milken, at the Beverly Hills Hotel. And although the location and theme of the event may have changed, the target audience of the events remains the same.

“This is a once-per-year chance at some of the best targeted networking in the nation,” said MeatEaters Ball founder, Robert K. Whyte. “We attract the who’s who from the financial and entrepreneurial worlds…players from equity, hedge funds, lending and debt from all over the country, plus top C-Level executives from the best companies that want to rub shoulders with people who can write checks.”

The 2009 MeatEater’s Ball will be held on Thursday, May 7, from 6:00-11:00 PM, at 2000 Avenue of the Stars, Los Angeles, CA 90067. Tickets for the event are $100 per ticket during April, with prices rising to $120 per ticket as of May 1st. Ticket prices include open bar, barbecue dinner (vegetarian options will also be available), and the evening’s entertainment. The event hosts request cocktail attire for the evening, and both valet and self-parking will be available. This year’s event will feature live performances by local rock bands, as well as internationally-famous DJ Jamesen Re spinning throughout the remainder of the evening.
