When Duke Vincentio of Vienna sets out to see how justice works first-hand, he leaves the city in the hands of Angelo, whose by-the-book law enforcement and stern morality threaten to destroy the city's prosperity. Wry humor, exotic locales and memorable characters combine in this comedy about the conflicts between human ideals and human nature.
