Hillsborough County - St. Joseph Community Services, the provider of Meals on Wheels throughout Hillsborough County, needs your help with the Annual Holiday Gift Tag Program.
Would you please help us bring some holiday cheer to your homebound neighbors on our Meals on Wheels program? You can do this by 1) making a donation to provide hot meals (one week of hot meals is $35.00, two weeks of hot meals is $70.00, and one month of meals is $152.00) 2) donating much needed gifts; for some this is the only gift they will receive (gift suggestions include: hand sanitizer, lotion, shampoo, shower gel, soaps, facial tissues, washcloths, socks, crackers, cookies, chocolates, candies, tea, coffee, cocoa, coffee mugs, puzzle books, blank note cards, stamps, playing cards) or by 3) donating both meals and gifts to our homebound neighbors.
Last year we received these thank you notes from two of our homebound participants who received a holiday gift bag:
“I want to thank you heartedly for the wonderful present. I have no family so no Christmas presents. With the economy the way it is, I expected no one to give out presents this year. But of course, somehow you did. Thank you ever so much – you surely brightened my day.”
“Thank you for your gifts. So many of the things will come in handy. The fleece throw will keep me warm.”
Due to the increased need for our program we estimate that we will have to fill 1,331 gift bags this year. This is 85 more bags than last year. The average age of our homebound participant is 80 and the majority of them live alone. Imagine the good feeling it brings them to know that they are remembered during the holidays.
We rely on the generosity of donors like you in order to make this program possible. Please help us reach our goal of being able to present a gift to every one of our homebound participants in time for the holidays.
If you would like to participate, please feel free to email Paula Telage, Development Manager at ptelage@sjcsinc.org or call 603/424-9967 or donate online at http://www.mealsonwheelsnh.org/donate/?pg=holiday
