The Minneapolis Institute of Arts and Minneapolis College of Art & Design invited current MCAD students to submit proposals to 'MCAD@MIA,' a unique opportunity for MCAD students to create a site-specific art installation at the MIA. The goal of this juried collaboration is to encourage art students to create new work that responds to the architecture, space, and/or diverse collections of the museum. The winning proposal, 'A Continued Presence,' is an eight-channel sound installation by Carla Rodriguez and Ethan Holbrook. The panelists were impressed with the proposal's ability to create a subtle yet dramatic effect and how it would accentuate the acoustics of the rotunda. A jury composed of MIA and MCAD artistic staff selected the project. The selected artists will work with MIA and MCAD staff during each phase of the exhibition process.
