Wednesdays May 4, 11, 18 and 25, 9pm
Mayday! Mayday! Mayday! (We've got ourselves a dance emergency...)
A lusty month of humpdays with Bianca Cabrerrrrrrrrra!
An event so epic it's gonna take four Wednesdays to tell the whole story...
Studio Gracia's 2011 Artist in Residence Bianca Cabrera is your fearless leader into a cabaret world of contemporary dance, cover bands, showgirls, cowgirls, boygirls, dancing, drinking and feasting. Think cartoony, campy and sexy. Think silly pop culture met with seriously resonant, die hard dance.
Then stop thinking and get yourself to the shows.
If you see one, you've only seen one. Special guests exclusive to each night!
Dj'd dance party to follow the show, cash bar all night.
5.4.11 - Gorge-ous.
5.11.11 - Camp Songs.
5.18.11 - May I be Frank?
5.25.11 - Dance off! Hands On!
Bianca Cabrera was a curated artist for ODC's 58th Pilot Program and is Studio Gracia's 2011 Artist in Residence. In 2010, Bianca Cabrera performed with Kim Epifano and LevyDance, produced her eponymous show CLUTCH (hang on) at Project Bandaloop in Oakland and begun teaching Monday mornings at Studio Gracia. Formerly of Seattle, Bianca's been performing nationally with Lingo Dance since 2003. She worked on projects with Paige Barnes, Amii LeGendre, Ricki Mason, and Kristen Tsiatsios as a dancer, she directed the dance company BLUISH, she performed with Seattle's queer burlesque troupe, Burly Q, and she often performed at Seattle fixtures such as Spin the Bottle, The Stay up Late Show, SFDI'S Off The Cuff and the Century Ballroom Cabarets. Ms. Cabrera has taught master classes and workshops at colleges, schools and dance spaces here and there but not quite everywhere. Bianca began her training at the Chicago Academy for the Arts, continued at the Ailey School and the Martha Graham Center until finishing a BFA at Cornish College for the Arts.
