Maya Beiser, Cello
Lionheart
Alexandra Montano, Mezzo-Soprano
Maya Beiser takes the cello to the uncharted territory of ancient vocal traditionsRenaissance madrigals; traditional Cambodian, Chinese, and Taiwanese minority singing; women chanters of Morocco; Jewish cantorial music; and Indian ritual singing. These inspire this program of new works that explore the incredible range of sounds and expressions of the cello, often considered the instrument most similar to the human voice.
