The Lake City-Columbia County Historical Museum will honor May Vinzant Perkins on Saturday August 8, 2009. The event will be from 10:00am - 3:00 pm. (Schedule attached). The museum will be honoring May Vinzant Perkins with an exhibit on the Vinzant Family including artifacts and photos of the author/artist and her family.

Christopher Esing will be speaking on “Aunt Aggie’s Boneyard, Secrets beneath the Boneyard” at the Women’s Club of Lake City, 257 SE Hernando Avenue. Aunt Aggie’s Boneyard was a local tourist attraction in Lake City at the turn of the 20th Century.

To encourage the budding writers and artists of our community we have invited the students who participated in the 150th Writing and Art Contest. The entries of the Lake City 150th Celebration Writing and Art Contest will be on display at the Women’s Club. Local writers and artists will be on hand to talk with the students.
