Who defines the up-and-coming jazz scene in the Des Moines area? Max Wellman!!
Where and when can you hear him perform his standard works and his new releases?
Friday March 23, 7:30 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 10395 University Avenue in Clive, Iowa.
Hear this legend-in-the-making perform classics by such composers as Duke Ellington and Cole Porter along with some of his works such as “Gimme the Keys” and “You Don’t Know Me.”
A free-will offering will be taken. In addition, CDs with Wellman’s music will be for sale before and after the performance.
A native of Des Moines, Wellman is already a fixture on the jazz scene. He has performed at Chuck’s Restaurant on the north side and at the Simon Estes Amphitheater on the riverfront downtown. His concerts, such as his “Home for the Holidays” have attracted legions of fans.
Max Wellman’s appearance at Faith is but one of many highlights of the 21st season of Soli Deo Musica, the fine arts ministry of Faith Lutheran Church which is sponsoring this event. Future events include a performance of the Wartburg choir on March 30 and a performance of the Des Moines Vocal Arts Ensemble in May.
