Max Richter and string quintet perform "Memoryhouse" (2002) and "The Blue Notebooks" (2004). Kathleen Supove and Jennifer Choi open with music for violin and piano by Erkki-Sven Tuur, Neil Rolnick, Ramin Heydarbeygi, & Vijay Iyer.
Following last year's sell-out event for Wordless Music at Good-Shepherd Faith Church, UK composer and producer Max Richter returns to New York for three nights only to launch his new album "24 Postcards in Full Colour." One of today's most visionary artists, Max Richter's work includes concert music, a series of records and film scores, as well as numerous collaborations with artists from other media. He has released four highly acclaimed albums, and recent film scores include Ari Folman's Waltz with Bashir (official selection at this years Cannes Film Festival), Henry May Long (Randall Sharp) and Hope (Stanislaw Mucha). His music can be heard in the documentary In God's Name, produced and directed by Jules and Gedeon Naudet, makers of the landmark 9/11 documentary. Max is also a regular collaborator with other artists across many genres, such as Vashti Bunyan, Roni Size, Future Sound of London and installation artist Tristan Sharps.
Kathleen Supove is one of America's most acclaimed and versatile contemporary music pianists. She regularly presents a series of solo concerts entitled The Exploding Piano, in which she has performed and premiered works by the world's leading composers as well as countless emerging ones. The Exploding Piano is a multimedia experience that employs theatrical elements, vocal rants, performance art, staging, electronics, and collaboration with artists from other disciplines. Kathleen has appeared with The Lincoln Center Festival, The Philip Glass Ensemble, Bang On a Can Marathon, Music at the Anthology, The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, and other venues, ranging from concert halls to theatrical spaces to clubs. Her most recent CD is INFUSION, released on the International Classics label, which features music for solo piano and electronics. Other recordings can be found on the Tzadik, CRI, Innova, New World, Neuma, Bridge, Centaur, OO, and XI labels.
Jennifer Choi has charted a career that breaks through the conventional boundaries of solo violin, chamber music, and the art of creative improvisation. The New York Times has described her as a player with"brilliance and command," and the Seattle Weekly applauded her performance with the words "intense, spectacularly virtuosic play." As a soloist, she has performed with the Oregon Symphony, the Columbia Symphony Orchestra, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Portland Youth Philharmonic, and the String Orchestra of New York City (SONYC), among others. As a recitalist and chamber musician, she has performed in venues worldwide like the Library of Congress in Washington D.C., Alice Tully Hall in New York, the Mozartsalle in Vienna, and the RAI National Radio in Rome. In 2000, she was Winner of the Artist International Award, leading to a debut recital in Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall.
